Most Famous Work; His work got such an important position in literature world wide that many of his plays are now part of literature studies around the world e.g. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. These are so famous that they are taught in third world countries of Asia and Africa where English is not native language. Let us here discuss two of his works in short; Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.

Romeo and Juliet is about a sad and tragic love story of two noble and powerful houses of Verona – House of Capulet and House of Montague. Interesting thing is that these both were the only children of these houses. These two houses were in rivalry for long time but one day Romeo met Juliet in a ball. She inspired him so much that despite of knowing that she is from Capulet family who are their rivals, he fell in love with her.

Their love was totally unconditional and they love each other as much that by asking Friar Laurence they married secretly. Their marriage was not exposed yet, when one day Romeo killed one of Juliet’s cousin Tybalt. Romeo who was not familiar with the trick played by Juliet rushed back to Verona and thinking her dead committed suicide. But when Juliet wakes up and come to know that Romeo is dead, she also killed herself. Soon after the death of both Romeo and Juliet, the house of Capulet and Montague reconciled.

After this incident Romeo was exiled from Verona while Juliet was married to a rich and noble person of Paris. On asking for help to Friar Laurence she fell asleep like she is dead by swallowing magic drops provided by Friar.

In Hemlet,Claudius who was uncle of Hamlet, killed his brother who was father of Hamlet and marries the Queen. One day, the ghost of Hamlet’s father the dead king appeared at Castle Elsinor and told him that his uncle murdered him (i.e. both Queen and Claudius killed him). This revelation of murder by ghost of his father urges him to take revenge from his uncle, but he was weak so he pretend like a mad man to collect some proofs against this conspiracy. For his satisfaction he tried the story like a play in a theater depicting the killing of his father. When his uncle came to know about this he send him to England for the purpose of killing him abroad.

Later on Hemlet came to Denmark that alarmed Claudius and he again planned to kill Hamlet. When Polonius was killed by Hamlet by a mistake, Claudius send Ophelia’s brother Laertes, to fencing match with Hamlet. In this match, Hamlet was wounded by Laertes’s sword that was cooled in poison, but he managed to stab Claudius and Laertes was also nearly dead. After all this mother of Hamlet drinks the poisoned wine which was decided to be given to Hamlet and died.

The best thing about this tragedy is the work of William that he showed very beautifully a person who was honest, responsible and strong enough that he didn’t killed a man without having sufficient proofs against him.
